Chiemsee – a Place of Rest and Relaxation
Only a few kilometres away from Aschau you reach the freshwater lake Chiemsee, often called the Bavarian Sea. This famous recreation area invites you for long walks and bicycle tours and to the Chiemsee Islands. The biggest one is Herrenchiemsee with the famous palace, built by King Ludwig II, which was never completed but was meant a replica of the Palace of Versailles. Frauenchiemsee, the smaller island houses a Benedictine Nunnery built in 782 as well as a small romantic village.
